Wine for free Workshop goes down a treat

The first “Wine for Free” workshop went extremely well especially the wine tasting! On sample were wines such as Elderflower and berry, nettle, rose petal, bramble tip and cherry plum.

We  worked through the processes in turn  by firstly sterilising the bottles and equipment before beginnning the demonstration by steeping some nettles, we then starting a primary fermentation on a dandelion must, a secondary fermentation on some root wine, then racking a grape wine before finally bottling 6 bottles of damson wine- a very full evening. During and after the process we were sampling last years bounty- the word merry comes to mind!

The workshop also presented the first opportunity to purchase the “Wine for Free” book packed with advice and recipes for foraged wines.

“It was so friendly and informal that it made it easy and fun to learn. Helen is a good teacher. I liked the way we could try each stage – demystifying the process. It was nice to be hands on, to see the equipment and learn about sterilising etc.” – Testimonial from a workshop participant.
